Hong Kong Number 1 of 20 Most Popular Destinations in 2015

Hong Kong is at number 1, which is not a huge surprise because it is both a huge holiday destination and also a great business hub attracting business visitors from all over the world including USA, Britain, China and Europe. The top three are in Asia and only three of the top 20 (London, Paris, Rome) are in Europe.
Egypt which was, until recently, among the top tourist destinations, didn’t make the top twenty, probably because of the political uncertainty there.

Tourist numbers are affected in the short and medium term by the political situation in an area and it is likely that recent events will determine where certain destinations feature on this list in future.

Many countries which are big tourist destinations do not feature on this list. This is because their individual city destinations do not attract enough visitors. For example Spain, which is a huge tourist destination does not feature because its visitors are spread over many cities and airports.
